Kay is a visionary.
Kay Laws is the owner of KML Bookkeeping. The topic of finances has always been a difficult one to tackle in our society. The conversation of money has been considered taboo and better kept secret. Kay’s heart and compassion was an instant connection for me, and I felt instantly able to trust her with the difficult conversations we’ve been taught not to talk about.
The conversation of money really does not need to be taboo, rather we should be sharing more and more healthy conversations about finances and Kay’s light makes it easy and comfortable to open up about something previously difficult. This approachable and compassionate energy was, to me, a priority to capture. Fun fact: Kay was the first brand photoshoot I had ever done as a ‘professional’, not just portfolio building.

I considered telling the story of Kay’s service when designing the photos that we would capture. I asked things like: what emotion did we wish to evoke when clients would look at Kay’s social media and website. Money allows freedom, like working wherever you are, having fun at whatever activity, and enjoying life’s small pleasures. A book kept well is a life well-lived.
We captured moments that told that story with the added flavour of Kay’s light, fun, and care.
